I Matter

We are strong and brave
We don't need to be saved
Smile put on a good face
Make sure all of our makeup is in place
Hide the hurt down deep inside
Forget it's there, remains in pride
Afraid to let go, must hold on take a stand
Squeeze so tight, feel pain in our hand
Afraid to cry or deal with the hurt
We're fine, it's over, move on, no use in digging up loose dirt
It leaves a scar, never looking back
Wounds only there when trouble attacks
We blow up or cry, we run or hide
We shop or eat, let our emotions be our guide
Confronting our pain means giving up the control
Clean out our hearts allows God in our soul
We failed, admit that we can do it on our own
In God's eyes we matter we are strengthened by His throne
To admit defeat means we need help from above
God is always with us, offering mercy, grace and love
Listen to God, no one else can surface
For He is the one who paid the ultimate price
He knows how to help and to heal our broken dreams
He fixes and makes new, our mind he redeems
Guard your heart because it's the gate to your soul
Open it only to surrender giving God full control
Then repair will happen, no more weight you are free
Be just who God perfectly designed you to be
